Kurier Pupil Advocate

2008 to 2011

Within a few weeks of the publication of his first book "DER TALENTIERTE SCHÜLER UND SEINE FEINDE" in March 2008, Andreas Salcher received around 2,500 emails from long-suffering pupils and parents. Together with Christoph Kotanko, then editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper "Kurier", he then developed the Kurier Pupil Advocate.

Independent and unbureaucratic

For three years, he acted independently and unbureaucratically as a representative of pupils' concerns to the respective school administration and was able to achieve solutions for those affected in a large number of cases. The public impact of the Kurier pupil advocate was significantly increased by regular appearances on the ORF program "Konkret". Andreas Salcher carried out his work on a voluntary basis without any remuneration.

At the end of his engagement as a student advocate, Andreas Salcher wished

  • The students leave school every day with the feeling that they have learned to understand the world a little better.
  • the teachers that they receive the appreciation they deserve every day.
  • parents that their children enthusiastically tell them every day how much they are looking forward to the next day at school.

This is not the dream of an unworldly visionary. These schools exist in Austria. All pupils, teachers and parents deserve them.
